This August, Arts Society of Kingsville invites you to experience the creative spirit of Pelee Island—without ever leaving the mainland.
From August 13 to September 7, 2025, the Artists of Pelee Island exhibit will take over the A.S.K. Art Gallery in the historic Carnegie Arts & Visitor Centre at 28 Division St. South, shining a spotlight on a diverse collection of work by over 17 island-based artists and artisans.
Sponsored by One of a Kind Pelee, this exhibit celebrates both emerging and established creators with strong ties to Pelee Island—whether as full-time residents, long-time cottagers, or descendants with deep-rooted connections.
Each artist brings their own interpretation of island life, shaped by the natural beauty and quiet magic of this remote, southernmost part of Canada.
.
The show features a wide range of mediums, including:
- Acrylic and oil paintings
- Mixed media beach glass art
- Encaustic works
- Gourd art (including thunder drums!)
- Handwoven baskets
- Up cycled sewn clothing
- Ink and coloured pencil drawings
- Epoxy and resin on wood
- Ceramic “beach babes”
- Fine art photography
An opening reception will be held Sunday, August 17 from 1–4pm, where guests can meet the artists and enjoy a special presentation by EL Enns Photography. Known for her natural-light portraiture and ability to capture quiet, emotive moments, EL Enns brings a warm, soulful lens to both people and places—many of which are deeply rooted in her time on Pelee.
If you’re planning a trip to Pelee Island this summer, make time to visit One of a Kind Pelee Art & Collectibles, the exhibit sponsor and one of the island’s vibrant creative hubs. Located next to the ferry terminal, the shop features work from over 36 local artists, artisans, and makers.
