Dave Shaften
David Nichols Shaften passed away peacefully July 8, 2025 at Hotel Dieu Grace Healthcare at the age of 62.
Dave was born in Plymouth, England on Nov 3, 1962 to his parents, the late Frank and Mary Shaften. In 1964, Canada became his permanent home when the family, his parents and his brothers moved to Kingsville, Ontario.
Dave will be sorely missed by his brothers, Kevin (Georgene), Chris (Jenni), and Pete (Melissa), and is reunited with his late brothers Paul (Judy) and Mick. Uncle Dave was adored by and adored his many nieces and nephews, LeeAnn (Terry), Tara, Jeremy (Theresa), Stephanie (Michael), Sarah, Sandy, Steve (Nadia), Christopher (Ingrid), Danielle (Scott) and Matt (Robyn).
He will be missed and remembered fondly by many of his great nephews and nieces. Dave was a brother, an uncle and a friend to many.
Dave spent his younger years working as a machinist perfecting his craft of machining in the tool and mould industry, and finished his career at Ford Canada as an autoworker in Windsor, Ontario.
Dave loved life, had an adventurous spirit, loved to joke and laugh. He took great pride in any task and loved to tinker, whether it be with his car or anything else he could get his hands on. He did not shy away from hard work.
He loved his dogs, Ruby, Molly, Cleo and Sophie, his loyal companions who were always at his side.
As per Dave’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and memorial visitation will be held at Kendrick Funeral Home in Kingsville on Thursday, July 17th, 2025, from 3-7pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s memory may be made to the Hospice of Windsor and Essex County (6038 Empress Street, Windsor ON N8T 1B5).
