Jack is Back!

In early May, staff at our Kingsville branch noticed that their statue of Jack Miner was missing. Jack stood proudly on top of one of the bookshelves for many years. We were sure we’d never get him back!

Fast forward to June when we met with with Matthew Olewski, Director of Education and Community Engagement at Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary to discuss some cool ideas for shared programs.

We shared our story about Jack and how he was missed. Well, Matthew had just attended ceremonies at Jack Miner Public School and had been gifted with artifacts by Principal Mike Huggard. Serendipity stepped in (we love that word) as Matthew received a statue just like the one we had!

Thank you Matthew for gifting the statue which just happened to be in your car, along with a portrait that can once again be enjoyed in the public space of the library. Our staff couldn’t be happier!
