First held in 2019, the Sail Into Summer event raised funds for a new Digital Mammography Machine for Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH). The event gave guests an opportunity to celebrate the Summer Solstice at the beautiful Windsor Yacht Club and raised over $40,000 for the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation.

Given its success, an event was planned in 2020 but was cancelled due to the global pandemic. In 2021 – Sail into Summer – “Home Edition” raised $30,000 which supported the purchase of an Arietta Ultrasound machine for the Operating Room at the Met Campus in support of the Urology program.

This year, the 3rd Annual Sail into Summer is returning to an in-person event. The Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation will host the fundraising dinner at the Windsor Yacht Club (WYC) to raise funds for a new Endoscopic Ultrasound Machine.

The state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment machine combines a high-frequency, ultrasound probe with an endoscope to examine the wall of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, rectum, pancreas, and beyond. It is an integral part of the management of a variety of gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. It will allow local residents to receive diagnoses and care in Windsor without the necessity to travel elsewhere.

“I am looking forward to ushering in the summer with friends at the Windsor Yacht Club and the general public for an elegant evening,” says Carol Parent, Chair, Sail into Summer. “I am especially pleased that the event will support the purchase of an EUS endoscopic ultrasound – a much needed piece of equipment that will allow patients to receive treatment and diagnosis in our own community.”
