WECHU’s Letter of Instruction Impacts Fantasy of Lights Festival

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has issued a Letter of Instruction in response to rising COVID-19 cases in our region. The Health Unit identifies new limitations on indoor gatherings within the letter, which come into effect on Friday, December 10, 2021. As a result, the Town of Kingsville has decided to proactively postpone all indoor events associated with its Fantasy of Lights Festival effective immediately.

Paws and Claus, initially scheduled for Tuesday, December 7, 2021, is delayed until further notice. Crafts and Pictures with Santa, initially planned for Saturday, December 11, 2021, is also postponed. Outdoor activities will continue as scheduled, with additional safety measures in place.

Decorating the Carnegie Christmas Tree

Families can place an animal-friendly ornament on the Carnegie Christmas Tree from December 6, 2021 – December 11, 2021. Or leave the decoration at the Carnegie Arts & Visitor Centre for Parks and Recreation and Kingsville Fire and Rescue personnel to place on the tree on their behalf. Please ensure appropriate social distancing when placing the ornament or join us virtually on Facebook Live.

Fill a Fire Truck

Help Kingsville Fire & Rescue fill a fire truck with toys at Red Apple (33 Division N) on Saturday, December 11, 2021. These donations will be given to Leamington & Area Toys 4 Tots, a local group of volunteers whose goal is to provide toys to less fortunate children in our area at Christmas. Please avoid donating stuffed animals due to COVID and allergies.

Kingsville Express Train Rides

Hop on Kingsville’s new Kingsville Express train for a ride around the upper bowl of Lakeside Park to see the light displays.

In keeping with the Windsor Essex County Health Unit’s instructions, the Town will be taking steps to reduce gathering crowds. Please follow all guidelines and markers on-site to ensure appropriate social distancing, and remember to wear a mask. The Town of Kingsville appreciates your patience and cooperation in keeping our community safe. Visit the Fantasy of Lights website for more details and updates www.fantasyoflights.ca.
