Jody Smith grew up in Kingsville. Later she and her husband Alan Smith raised and homeschooled their five children here.

Jody was a writer and editor for the health and wellness website EmpowHER for 7 years. She’s been a writer and editor for the ME/CFS website Phoenix Rising for 10 years.

When Mary Ellen Havlik issued a call for help in creating a new local newspaper, Jody volunteered to be editor because she didn’t want to read typos in the Kingsville Times.
