The Anguish of War is the result of two decades of in-depth research into the lives of many from Windsor and Essex County who “rallied to the colours.”
“What struck me most were the ages — 20-year-olds putting their lives on the line. It’s heartbreaking, the young ages and so much lost potential,” says Lotz.
They came from all backgrounds and walks of life: students and teachers, lawyers and carpenters, butchers, newspapermen, Clergy, autoworkers, engineers, farmers and office clerks from Windsor and Essex County who gave up a piece of individuality to become a part of something larger than themselves – who fell in service to crown and country.
“From the Boer War to the Afghanistan War – patriotic duty, service, courage and sacrifice – we have their names on monuments, but there’s more to them — their lives lived. Who are they?” asks Lotz.
FREE for public to attend – Entrance to the Masonic Temple is from Dufferin Street at Erie Street (rear of Masonic Temple.)
Elevator access is located at the Ouellette Avenue entrance.
