Life gives us a platform. How we live on it is entirely up to us. It offers us the freedom to chase our dreams. But are we truly chasing them, or are we just saying we “should?”
When you tell yourself, “I should do this,” or “I should do that,” you’re giving yourself a 50/50 shot at success. Your mindset isn’t fully committed. There’s no urgency, no eagerness, no burning desire. It just isn’t important enough, and it often slips away.
The Power of “MUST”
Now, consider the other side: when you declare, “I MUST get this done.” This isn’t a suggestion; it’s a command. You’re telling yourself you’ll do whatever it takes. It becomes a certainty.
This shift ignites your confidence, pushing you to step beyond your comfort zone. You’re making a decisive choice for yourself, not for others, that you’re ready to achieve what you desire. You’re choosing to change your life, to raise your standards. You’re breaking free from limiting beliefs.
Remember, your mind believes what you feed it. What you believe becomes your reality. If you think you can, you will. If you think you can’t, you won’t. It’s that simple.
No “Shoulds,” Only “MUSTS”
To succeed in anything, you MUST do it. The word “should” has no place when you want something badly enough. And if you want it bad enough, you will find a way to get it done.
Never allow a mood or anxiety disorder to define you or label you as incapable. That’s a self-imposed limiting belief, an excuse not to pursue what you want. Until you change that belief, you’ll remain stagnant.
Let me ask you: Why do you brush your teeth every day? Why do you shower? Because it’s a must. You value cleanliness, right? So, if you want to lose weight, then daily exercise must be as fundamental as brushing your teeth. If you want to be happier, making progress and taking the right steps must be part of your routine. If you want financial security, then working hard must become your priority.
Do you see the pattern? You must create the time, no matter what it is, and integrate it into your day. I get up at 6:00 AM every morning to lift weights before work. I don’t care if it’s cold, too hot in my garage, or if I’m sleepy. I do it because I love it, it makes me feel good, and it brings amazing changes to my body. It’s a must.
Your Time Is Now
What do you believe is so unrealistic that it can’t be done? If you want to make any progress in your life—whether it’s conquering depression or anxiety, or achieving success— you have no choice but to do it.
It’s time to set your standards high, step outside the box, and do the things you once thought impossible. You’re no longer going to stay comfortable and say, “I should do this.” That day is today. It might be uncomfortable at first, but the results will be profoundly worth it.
I wasn’t living my life to its fullest until I finally woke up and made the decision to set my standards and expectations high. Only then was I able to overcome my obstacles and give back. I’ve even started writing a book. By shifting my thinking and turning my “shoulds” into “musts,” I can live openly, freely, and achieve anything I want.
And you are going to do the same.
God bless you and never give up.
