After more than four decades in the music industry, local vocalist and entertainer Rick Stephenson has received international recognition with two nominations from the prestigious Josie Music Awards in Nashville.

Stephenson is nominated for both Tribute Artist of the Year and Vocalist of the Year, chosen from a record-breaking pool of nearly 86,000 submissions—placing him in the top 2.8% of all entries.

These nominations came after receiving 14 nominations earlier in the year in Europe.

Stephenson, who has built a loyal following with his show Rick Stephenson – His Sinatra, describes his performances not as impersonation, but as a deeply personal interpretation and tribute.

“It’s my way of honoring the music, the man, and the timeless emotion behind each song,” said Stephenson, referring to Frank Sinatra and the enduring legacy of the Great American Songbook.

The Josie Music Awards, one of the largest independent music award organizations in the world, recognizes artists across a variety of genres and celebrates excellence in independent music.

This year’s ceremony will take place in Nashville, where winners will be announced. This is the third year in a row Rick has been nominated.

Stephenson expressed his gratitude to the Josie Awards judges and team, as well as to his supporters. “I never imagined this kind of recognition. I’m truly honored and humbled. And to those who continue to support live music and independent artists—thank you for helping keep this music alive.”

The community is cheering Stephenson on as he heads to Nashville this fall, representing both his talent and a lifelong commitment to continuing Sinatra’s legacy.
