A huge thank you to every team that joined the Kingsville Southshore Rotary Club for last Saturday’s community cleanup event!
This event, now in its fifth year, would not be possible without the incredible support from Pelee Island Winery, which has graciously hosted us each year. When the cleanup first began in 2020 during COVID-19 restrictions, teams adapted by visiting Green Heart Kitchen and enjoying boxed lunches with coupons.
This year, it was wonderful to gather once again for a lively barbecue, with special thanks to James Staley for providing outstanding music entertainment that made the day even more memorable.
We are grateful for our generous partners — GFL Environmental, who donate the garbage bins annually; Century 21 and Peralta Engineering, whose sponsorship helps bring the event to life, and the Town of Kingsville, which awarded a $1,000 grant to support the cleanup and youth scholarships.
A big shoutout to Alyssa Ismail, Event Coordinator, the incredible teams who fanned out across Kingsville to tackle different areas:
- Pelee Island Winery
- Erie Shores Rehabilitation
- Olivito Dentistry
- Kingsville Animal Clinic
- Communities in Bloom
- RBC
- Kingsville BIA
- Libro Credit Union
- Peralta Engineering
- Lions Club
- The Town of Kingsville
- Wrobel Massage Therapy
- Team Pam Lintack
- Team Julie Love
- Rotary Clubs of Harrow, Kingsville, and Cottam
- Two youth teams with Peralta Engineering and Century 21
How Can You Help?
While out cleaning, volunteers noticed a concerning trend — doggie waste bags being left along trails and tossed along the sides of paths. Please help keep our beautiful town clean by carrying waste to the nearest garbage container.
There are many bins available, including those that are at the entrances of some of the greenway spots (sponsored by the Kingsville Southshore Rotary Club and marked with the logo). A small action makes a big difference!
A Positive Trend
When we started this community cleanup, we collected close to 2 tons of garbage in the first year. Each year, that number has dropped — and that’s exactly our goal. Can you guess this year’s total? (Hint: It’s lower again!)
Together, we are making a visible difference. As event coordinator Allysa Ismail shared, “Kingsville has proven once again what’s possible when a community comes together.”
