Kingsville Raises Flag for National AccessAbility Week

The Town of Kingsville was happy to recognize National AccessAbility Week with an official flag-raising on Monday, May 26, 2025.

“National AccessAbility Week presents us with an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions and leadership of Canadians with disabilities,” said Kingsville Mayor Dennis Rogers. “It’s also a time to highlight the efforts of individuals, organizations, and communities dedicated to breaking down barriers and promoting inclusion.”

Town officials were joined by members of its Accessibility Committee and guests from Ursa Major Learning Support Centre.

“The welcome we and our members – the amazing adults we support – have received here has been truly remarkable. Kingsville has shown us what a supportive and inclusive community truly looks like,” said Vanessa Young, who co-owns Ursa Major with her brother Mitchell.

Residents are encouraged to participate in Red Shirt Day on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, and to stop by the Essex County Library during the week to learn more at the information display. The Town’s Accessibility Committee will also be at the 2025 Accessibility Fest-for-All on September 12, 2025.

This event is planned by the County of Essex’s Accessibility Advisory Committee and showcases accessible activities through demonstrations, products, services and information.
