Driver from Michigan charged with stunt driving in Essex County, travelling nearly double the posted 80km/h speed limit.
On April 9, 2025, at 5:38 a.m., a member of the Essex County OPP was performing a traffic enforcement initiative on Highway 3 in Essex County.
A vehicle was observed travelling a nearly double the posted 80 km/h speed limit at which time a traffic stop was initiated.
As a result, a 20-year-old of Howell, Michigan, United States of America, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
· Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed
· Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
· Fail to surrender insurance card
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 30 days and the vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges at a later date.
