Rotary Club of Kingsville Southshore Fills Fridge at the Food Bank

The Rotary Club of Kingsville Southshore successfully applied for a community grant.  These district grants support projects that align with the mission to help Rotarians contribute to world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving people’s health, supporting education, and alleviating poverty.

Dave Lebrun, Chair of the local “Filling the Fridge” grant committee, submitted the application, citing a growing need in our community:

“The Kingsville Community Food Bank has seen a steady increase in the number of clients served in the past couple years, and this grant would greatly help us secure perishable items for our clients. The Kingsville Food Bank currently serves approximately 600 people a month.

“We rely solely on donations and volunteers to serve our community. The Kingsville Southshore Rotary Club has been actively involved in the community food bank now for many years. We have regularly participated in food drives and have taken on the role of providing manpower to serve patrons.”

Kingsville Southshore Rotary Club members present a $5,000 cheque to Heather Pillon, of the Kingsville Food Bank. The grant has “filled the fridge” with perishable items such as cheese, milk, eggs and margarine.
