The King Charles III Coronation Medal commemorates the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III on May 6, 2023.
In Canada, this medal gives recognition to individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada, to their province, territory, region, or community, or who have achieved outstanding accomplishments abroad that bring credit to the nation.
On 6 May 2024, the Governor General presented the first medals to the Lieutenant Governors and Territorial Commissioners.
The medal was designed by Cathy Bursey-Sabourin, Fraser Herald at the Canadian Heraldic Authority at the Chancellery of Honours, Rideau Hall.
The King Charles III Coronation Medal is manufactured by the Royal Canadian Mint. It is struck in nickel-silver and is lacquered to prevent tarnishing.
