One person has been charged following a traffic stop in Leamington
On March 24, 2025, at approximately 7:15 p.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop in relation to the “Stay-Focused Distracted Driving Initiative” on County Road 33 in the Municipality of Leamington.
A 33-year-old male resident of Essex was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code, Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Highway Traffic Act offences:
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive – hand held communication device
- Failure to surrender insurance card
- Windshield obstructed
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused was scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor on April 16, 2025, to answer to the charges.
