This summer, seven youth and four leaders from the 2nd Kingsville Scouting Group along with one youth from Essex Scouts will embark on an exciting adventure to the International Norway Jamboree in Gjøvik, Norway.
The event, taking place from July 5th to 12th, 2025, promises a week filled with skill-building, teamwork, and cultural exchange.
In preparation for the Jamboree, the Scouts have been diligently working on essential skills required for the Jamboree.
In Norway, Scouts are expected to build what they need—whether it’s a table, chair, or other structures—making knot and lashing skills a crucial part of their training.
Additionally, the Scouts are preparing for the extensive hiking that awaits them, including an overnight trek where they will set up tarps for shelter and experience outdoor survival firsthand.
In addition to their skill development, the Scouts are actively fundraising to support their journey. Currently, they are selling:
- Raffle tickets for a chance to win gift cards
- Simply Delicious Chocolate Bars
- Butch’s Best BBQ Sauces
- Woodland Trails Maple Syrup
Items can be ordered by emailing: norway2025sc@gmail.com or kenjenco@gmail.com
Many Scouts are also showcasing their creativity by making and selling homemade items such as hair bows, flower teacups, bracelets, candles, book bundles, and Easter baskets. Please contact Rachel and Jade at 226-340-7520 or text Jen at 519-324-5419.
To further support their trip, the group has organized two major fundraising events:
- Facebook Online Auction (April 4th-7th) – Supporters can participate by following their Facebook page and placing bids on various auction items.
- Community Yard Sale (April 26th-27th) – The group is collecting donations for this event and encourages the community to contribute.
Businesses and individuals looking to support the Scouts can participate in a sponsorship opportunity.
Sponsors will have their logo added to a teardrop flag that will accompany the group to Norway, showcasing their generosity and community spirit on an international stage.
Scouter Bev Snyder, 2nd Kingsville Scouting Group Commissioner, expresses gratitude for the ongoing support from the community.
Those interested in contributing or learning more can contact Bev at 519-790-8457 or via email at kenjenco@gmail.com.
Thank you for supporting the 2nd Kingsville Scouts on their journey to Norway!
