Erie Shores HealthCare (ESHC) is pleased to announce the reinstatement of urology services through a strategic partnership with local urologists. Urology procedures will be conducted twice weekly in ESHC’s operating rooms, enhancing access to specialized care for residents of Essex County.
The initiation of this advancement is made possible by the Erie Shores Health Foundation, including donations from the Show Us Your ‘Stache campaign led by men across Essex County, a $200,000 commitment from the County of Essex, and a notable $250,000 donation from Harrow residents Larry and Marcia Pollard.
Fundraising to provide Urology care through the purchase of advanced equipment continues.
Mr. Pollard, a urology patient for the past nine years, understands the value of having these services close to home first-hand and is encouraging anyone who can to join him in donating to the program.
Reflecting on his experience, he shared, “My condition controlled my life for nine years already. Now, I can interact with my family and feel healthy doing it. My future would not look so bright if it was not for urology services. I believe in saving other patients the painful and time-consuming trips down the highway to Windsor or London.”
The $200,000 commitment from the County of Essex is part of the county’s $2 million ten-year pledge to Erie Shores HealthCare.
The collaboration will provide comprehensive urological care, including managing urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and other related conditions. This initiative aligns with ESHC’s commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services to the community.
“We are thrilled to reintroduce urology services at Erie Shores HealthCare,” said ESHC President and CEO Kristin Kennedy. “This partnership ensures that our patients receive high-quality, specialized care close to home, reducing the need for extensive travel and enhancing overall patient well-being.”
The County of Essex’s contribution underscores its dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure and services for its residents. Warden Hilda MacDonald stated, “Investing in local healthcare services is paramount to the well-being of our community. We are proud to support Erie Shores HealthCare in this significant enhancement of urology services.”
Erie Shores HealthCare extends its heartfelt gratitude to all contributors, especially Larry Pollard, whose generosity and personal commitment have brought this vital service back to the community.
