The Ontario government is granting Veterans free access on weekdays to all provincial parks.
Veterans and active service members can take advantage of this program by presenting their valid Canadian Armed Forces identification card and proof of Ontario residency at the entrance of any provincial park.
Free weekday entry also extends to family members accompanying the veteran or service member in the same vehicle.
The news came in a statement earlier this week from Acting Environment, Conservation and Parks Minister Todd McCarthy in recognition of Remembrance Week.
“There are no words to express our profound gratitude to the Canadian Armed Forces members and their families who continue to serve our country in times of war, conflict and peace. During Remembrance Week, and every day, may we show gratitude for their courage and sacrifice, and cherish the freedom they have made possible for generations of Canadians as we thank them for their service. Lest we forget,” said the statement from the Acting Minister.
