Have Your Say Kingsville on the Future of School Properties

The Town of Kingsville has added a new project on its HaveYourSayKingsville.ca citizen engagement portal to discuss the future of the three closed school properties.

If and when the school board lists these properties for sale, Kingsville Town Council will have to make an important decision: Should the municipality “buy” or “not buy” one or more of these properties?

Can we afford to purchase one or more of these properties? It might be expensive.

Can we afford not to purchase one or more of these properties? The community would have little or no control over the property’s future.

The decision is complex and will have a lasting impact on our community.

On July 29, 2024, the Town hosted a Public Information Meeting to present the pros and cons of each option. The discussion continues on our citizen engagement portal until the end of August. We encourage residents to review the presentation materials, watch the live stream recording from the in-person meeting, and then share their opinions on the public forum.

The project page will continue to be updated as more information becomes available.

Kingsville Town Council was not elected to be real estate developers. I doubt if they have the expertise in this area and their only experience comes from buying and selling their own house or maybe playing the game Monopoly! Any development should be left to professionals who risk their money, “Not Taxpayer Money”. I believe the town would still be able to have future control over these properties with the use of proper “Zoning Bylaws”, which is the way it should be done, and not with our money. 2. Why the hell does Kingsville want to be a slum lord.
My taxes dollars are not for this, nor do I want to pay more taxes so the township can become slum lord’s.
“Build it, they will come”, what a crock of s☆☆t we are now under a water advisory because Kingsville ran short again on our water supply.
No infrastructure, no essential services and the Mayor wants to waste or tax dollars, go figure
