CFIA Issues Recall For Gerber Oat Banana And Mango Baby Cereal

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall for Gerber brand oat banana and mango baby cereal after it tested positive for Cronobacter bacteria.

The product is sold online and in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and New Brunswick.

There is a possibility that is also being sold in other provinces and territories.

Food contaminated with Cronobacter may not look or smell spoiled but can make you sick.

Although Cronobacter is not commonly linked to human illness, in rare cases it can cause serious or fatal infections.

Cronobacter can cause rare bloodstream and central nervous system infections and has been associated with severe intestinal infection (necrotizing enterocolitis) and blood poisoning (sepsis), especially in newborns.

The affected product is the 227gram box with a best before date of May 30, 2025.

If you have the affected product, the agency advises that it should be not consumed and should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase.
