On June 27, 2024, we welcomed 570 Canada geese that were relocated here at the Sanctuary from the City of Mississauga!
During their 40-day molting period, urban flocks of adult Canada geese and their goslings are rounded up in parks and public spaces and transported to the Sanctuary. Here, we provide relocated geese with a healthy diet and a safe place to rest while flight feathers grow.
The relocation of goslings during this time decreases their chances of developing angel wing, a nutrient deficiency that develops when they are fed bread or popcorn–“junk food” for waterfowl.
All 570 birds were banded and most are ready to take flight on their first migration! Stop by to see them before they go!

Temporary fix, moving 570 geese. I have heard of other species that in 48 hours they were back where they were born.
Geese have inundated Lake Erie near a lake view Private Park. They come ashore and on peoples lawns. This as of August 16. The dogs that people walk on the road are terrorized. Something needs to be done. Perhaps another roundup
