‘Sunset Singers’ Drumming Circle at Leamington Arts Centre July 20

Sunset Singers is a Drum group which was started by Roxanne White (Wholistic Counsellor from Kettle & Stony Point First Nations) in 2020 to serve her community.

The group has since grown to 12 people (11 women and one man).

The group welcomes all nations of the medicine wheel; and every member of the group is carrying several ancient and sacred aboriginal songs. We also have more contemporary songs in our repertoire.

We drum together at sunset on the shores of Lake Huron to replenish, heal, support each other, and connect to the abundantly beautiful area.

On occasion we have been blessed with a local swan trumpeting with us, and other waterfowl listening in as we sing songs to honour the water, songs of support and strength for all nations, and ancient gathering songs to bring people together.

The Sunset Singers have worked together to design and create matching skirts and shirts.

This year we have been invited to several venues: Lambton Heritage Museum, Aboriginal Day Parade on Walpole Island, and a local assisted living facility.

Sunset Singers will be drumming together again at the Leamington Arts Centre July 20, from  1-4 p.m.

I am grateful for this group. It offers a wonderful opportunity to feel included and share our collective Joy as a community of drummers.
