On May 28 and 29, WECSSAA held their annual Senior Girls softball tournament. The tournament started off slow for the Cavs as they lost a tight 6-4 contest to Leamington’s Cardinal Carter. But, they  bounced back quickly with back-to-back wins over L’Essor (18-2) and North Star (11-9). They finished the day with a thrilling come-from-behind 14-13 walk off win against Windsor’s Lajeunesse.

Day 2 of the tournament saw another last inning rally, this time beating Villanova 12-11 in the bottom of the 7th, to propel them into the finals against Sandwich.

Game 1 of the finals saw the Lady Cavs again victorious, this time 13-9. But, after losing their opening game of the tournament, the Cavs needed to play a 7th overall game and beat Sandwich again. This time the Girls came up just short, losing 19-13 to Sandwich.

The Cavs received new life though, when Sandwich defeated LKSSAA Champion Sarnia Great Lakes, setting up a play-in game with the Cavs and Sarnia Great Lakes.

On June 3, 2024, the Lady Cavs travelled to Sarnia and defeated Sarnia Great Lakes 13-8, qualifying them for the OFSSAA tournament.

Great work Cavs!!!

The 2024 OFSSAA Tournament takes place today and tomorrow in Hamilton, June 10 and 11.
