Leamington Council Matters – March 19, 2024

At the Leamington Council meeting of Tuesday, March 19, 2024, Council:

  • Adopted a report provided by Rood Engineering Inc. for a new access bridge over the 11th Concession Road Drain for parcel 850-01400, authorized the project to be tendered, and approved a Court of Revision to be held for the project.
  • Approved a Zoning Amendment Application for 33 Hodgins Street, Leamington, to permit a multi-unit development and established site-specific zoning provisions.
  • Awarded a tender for the Kinsmen Baseball Diamonds and CWATS Asphalt Pathway project to Tac Group Incorporated, in the amount of $357,839.84 plus applicable taxes.
  • Awarded a tender for the 2024 Asphalt Program (Resurfacing) project to Steve Smith Construction Corporation, in the amount of $332,984 plus applicable taxes.
  • Increased the 2024 Traffic Signal Maintenance account in the amount of $165,000, to be funded from the Engineering Reserve.
  • Adopted an Asset Retirement Obligations policy.
  • Appointed Deputy Mayor Verbeke, Councillor Tiessen, Laura Rauch, Director of Finance and Business Services, Katie McLean, Manager of Revenue and Financial Planning, and Andrea Palichuk, Executive Assistant to the Chief Administrative Officer and Mayor, to the 2024 Municipal Grants Review Committee.
  • Enacted a by-law to establish schedules of retention periods for municipal records.
  • Received an annual statistical report regarding the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
  • Authorized Administration to enter into a five-year lease renewal agreement with the Ministry of Fisheries.
  • Received and approved the posting of the 2023 annual reports from Union Water Supply System, Leamington (Union) Distribution System, Wheatley Drinking Water System, and Leamington (Wheatley) Distribution System on the municipal website.
  • Authorized Administration to enter into an agreement with Ambassador Security Limited to perform Marina Security Services in the amount of $50,652 plus HST per year for the next two years.
  • Authorized the 2024 final tax levy.
