The dust is just starting to settle on the charity photography auction but it won’t be settling on any of the photos as every one of them was sold.
Fifty-four lots of beautifully presented photography were donated by an array of local photographers and one piece from Nikon Ambassador Jenny Wong. A total of $4,375 was raised that night from the auction.
This sum will be divided between the two beneficiaries, Kingsville Community Centre and St. Andrews Foodbank LaSalle.
My appreciation goes out to everyone who came along and bid on the photography. Without you this would have just been a nice art exhibition gala.
While my name may be associated with this event it would be an insult to many if I were to take credit with how well this event turned out.
My sincere thanks must go to the Arts Society of Kingsville, spearheaded by Ann Ducharme. Ann worked tirelessly over the last two months in planning the evening at the Grovedale Arts and Cultural Centre and I was incredibly happy with how it went.
Ann put together a team of volunteers that each took to their tasks with gusto. No detail was overlooked.
From the moment guests walked through the doors until the lights were turned off, there were volunteers taking care of things — registering and directing people on how the evening would go, taking payments, recording the sales and buyers and packing up the artwork for the buyers.
Mary Lopata provided a wonderful finger buffet which was enjoyed by all.
This was a stellar effort by ASK.
Maureen Wickham worked wonders with her organisational skills, prior to and during the event. Each art piece was hung by Petra and his team. The Grovedale looked great with the walls adorned with art.
Maureen continued to work through the evening with her auctioneering efforts put to trial in order to try and squeeze as much money out of people’s hands to help raiseĀ funds!
One of the photographers, Stan Beatty, did double duty as he also provides entertainment for events and offered his services. This was subtle background music but it made a telling difference to the atmosphere during the reception.
I would like to give a mention to Kingsville’s Mayor Dennis Rogers for coming along and taking part, supporting our communities.
I would also like to credit the Grovedale. This is a venue that I have not been to before but have to say I am impressed with its suitability for events like this and I will certainly be considering it for future endeavours.
Ann Ducharme and I would like to thank the following as well:
The Town of Kingsville who gave the Grovedale at a reduced price for not for profit.
Elegant Touch Chair Cover & Rental who gave us a reduced price.
Allegra who printed and donatedĀ the catalogues.
Colasanti’s who donated the plants.
And the Arts Society who supplied food and volunteers
While I will take some time to relax and mull over this event, it will not be long before I start trying to plan how the next one will look and how it can become even more successful in aiding those in our communities.
