The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Essex County Detachment is investigating multiple robberies that occurred in the Municipality of Lakeshore.
On February 6, 2024, at approximately 8:27 a.m., members of the Lakeshore Detachment responded to a report of a robbery in the community of Lighthouse Cove. A lone individual is responsible for multiple robberies involving the theft of motor vehicles throughout several communities within the Municipality of Lakeshore.
With the assistance of West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Canine Unit and Aviation Services, the individual was located in the area of Highway 401 and Bloomfield Road, Municipality of Chatham-Kent and arrested without incident.
On Wednesday February 7, 2024, a 40 year old male of Windsor has been charged with:
· Robbery with Weapon (Six Counts)
· Theft of Motor Vehicle (Two Counts)
· Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle (Two Counts)
· Dangerous operation (Two counts)
· Disguise with Intent (Three Counts)
· Failure to stop after accident. (One Count)
· Flight from peace officer (One Count)
· Imitation Firearm – Use while attempting to commit offence (Two Counts)
· Imitation Firearm – Use while committing offence (Two Counts)
· Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose (Four Counts)
· Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada (Eight Counts)
The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor.
