Driver Charged After Single Vehicle Crash

On February 18, 2024, at 9:30 p.m., the Kingsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the 1700 block of County Road 29 in the Town of Kingsville for a vehicle in the ditch.

As officers were speaking to the driver, the driver was displaying signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested and was transported to a local OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, a 24-year-old male from Wallaceburg was charged with:

·            Operation while impaired – alcohol S.320.14(1)(a) CC

·            Failure or refusal to comply with demand S.320.15(1) CC

·            Driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor S.42(1)(a) LLCA

·            Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available S.42(1)(b) LLCA

·            Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit S.7(1)(a) HTA

·            Operate a motor vehicle without insurance. S.2(1)(a) CAIA

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor on February 29, 2024 to answer to the charges.

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
