Richard Jones
JONES, Richard (Dick) Newton, born in Toronto, Ontario on October 3, 1936. Dick passed away peacefully on December 14, 2023 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Veronica for 63 years. Loving father of Kathy (Michael) and Chris (Lori). Proud Gramps of Braeden, Jason, Riley and Matthew.
Cherished father figure to MyLien and members of the Nguyen family. Dear brother to Bob and the late Barbara. Dick was truly loved and will be missed also by his many nieces and nephews, as well as the many close friends he made throughout his life.
Known most for his playful wit and sense of humour, Dick was also appreciated for the kindness and consideration he consistently showed toward others. His charming and engaging personality drew people to him easily and led to many loyal, life-long friendships.
Exceptionally generous with his time and contributions, Dick made a difference in his community. As a faithful member of his church, he was active as Usher, Lector, and Greeter. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1982 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
When he and Veronica settled in Kingsville he transferred into Kingsville, St. John de Brebeuf and Companions Council #8233. He was very involved at numerous and varied events throughout his service with the Knights, as well as serving on the Council Executive.
He became a 4th Degree “Sir Knight” in 2002 and was active in the 4th Degree until March of 2016. Until 2018 he performed the Chancellor’s role on the 1st Degree Team, where he was known as a passionate and authentic speaker.
Dick was a hard-working, dedicated and proud man. And he faced his recent health challenges with courage, determination and resilience, in the same manner as he approached life. The family would like to extend many thanks to Dr. Burgess and the dedicated staff and volunteers at Erie Shores Hospice who took exceptional care of Dick over the last 6 weeks.
