Province Opens Disaster Recovery Assistance Program for Areas of Kingsville

The Ontario government has announced the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians Program is now open in certain areas of Kingsville. This program may help residents, small businesses, and farms who suffered property damage due to the storms and flooding on August 23, 2023.

Eligible costs include emergency expenses, cleanup expenses and costs to repair or replace essential property (e.g., furnaces and hot water heaters). The program does not cover non-essential costs such as refinishing basement recreation rooms or restoring landscaping, fencing, retaining walls, docks, or boathouses.) Insurance payments will be deducted from your eligible costs.

Please visit Ontario.ca/DisasterAssistance for activation area maps, guidelines, forms and eligibility information. The deadline to apply is March 27, 2024.

In September, the Town of Kingsville collected information from residents, including uninsured loss estimates, to urge the Province to open the program to citizens. The Town will contact individuals who previously provided this information to ensure they are aware of this program.

Please note that the Province administers this process, and all residents must work directly with them to use it. Please call 1-877-822-0116 or email disasterassistance@ontario.ca for further details.
