As of October 1, 2023, pharmacists in Ontario can now prescribe for an additional six minor ailments. This significantly increases access to care for our patients.
These minor ailments are medical conditions that you would already commonly come to a pharmacist for an assessment and over-the-counter treatment.

The new minor ailments pharmacists can prescribe for are:
- Minor Acne
- Aphthous Ulcers commonly known as canker sores
- Diaper Dermatitis commonly known as diaper rash
- Vulvovaginal Candidiasis commonly known as a Yeast Infection
- Pinworms and Threadworms
- Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy
As a reminder the other minor ailments pharmacists can prescribe for are:
- Hay Fever
- Bacterial, Viral and Allergic Pink Eye
- COVID-19 Infection
- Eczema
- Menstrual Cramps
- Acid Reflux
- Hemorrhoids
- Cold Sores
- Impetigo
- Insect Bites and Insect Stings
- Lyme Disease Prevention after a Tick Bite
- Musculoskeletal Sprains and Strains
- Thrush
- Urinary Tract Infection
