Local Woman Thankful To Fire Department For Saving Her Life

Lana Grondin with Kingsville Fire Department for South Station Open House which took place on Wednesday, October 11, 2023

On Sunday, August 13th around 6pm, there was a two-car collision at the intersection of Road 3 West and McCain Side Road, Kingsville.

I was nearly home when my Hyundai was struck sending my SUV flipping into the air, landing in a distant twenty-foot ditch upside down. Broken glass everywhere, ditch water began seeping into my vehicle.

This led to a two month stay in hospital with months of recovery yet to battle.

I would first like to say thank you to the young men who climbed down the steep slope into the muddy ditch to check on me and who called the emergency crews.

I would also like to thank both the South and North Fire Department crews, including my son Bradley, who is a volunteer with the South Station. Without them, I may not be here today.

Lana Roughton Grondin with son, Bradley Roughton

Thank you for what you do, for saving so many lives … including mine.

Forever grateful,

Lana Roughton Grondin

The lifesaving and heroic efforts of our servicemen and servicewomen both home and abroad often go unnoticed and unappreciated. Thank you to the Kingsville firemen that put their safety above others to bring Lana home to her family and friends. We are forever grateful ❤️

I’d like to echo my brother’s comments and thank all of the Kingsville fire department for all you do!! I’d hate to think of how much worse things could have been for our sister Lana, if not for your quick response and heroic efforts.

      Thank you!
