Recently, I had the pleasure and honour of meeting Tammy Middleton, manager of our Kingsville Starbucks. They opened in April, 2022 and have roughly 20 partners currently employed in the branch.
Tammy and her team nominated the Kingsville Community Food Bank for a corporate neighbourhood grant. They were successful and as a result, a recent donation of $4,500 was made.
“Starbucks is very much about giving back to the community,” she shared.
Locally, Starbucks has supported Kingsville in several other ways including canned food drives and the current Coats for Kids Collection (through the month of October). They have also donated over 1200 meals to the food bank through the “food share program” which diverted over 3,000 pounds of food going to waste.
The company launched their new mission statement in 2023.
“With every cup, with every conversation, with every community – we nurture the limitless possibilities of human connection.”
The mission is underpinned by six promises, one of which is “contributing positively to communities.”
Heather Pillon, representing the food bank which relies totally on donations and volunteers, thanked Tammy and the staff at Starbucks.
“With the rise in clients, we are doubling in the number of people that need support from last year,” Pillon said.
Other Starbucks branches support their local communities, including The Bridge in Leamington, the Downtown Mission, and Hiatus House in Windsor.
