For almost a decade, a local dental practice has been at the forefront of community support, organizing an annual mouthguard fundraising event that has collected thousands of dollars for the Kingsville OPP Community Policing Committee (KCPC).
Dr. Mark Olivito & Associates, located in the heart of Kingsville at the intersection of Main Street East and Spruce Street, have taken their commitment to our community to new heights. Every August and September, they open their doors to all members of the public to participate in this fundraising initiative.
Kingsville residents can get custom-fitted mouthguards while simultaneously supporting community events. For every mouthguard sold, each dollar goes directly to the KCPC.
Over the years, this initiative has grown significantly, becoming a recognised tradition in town. This year alone, the fundraising event collected an impressive $3,060 bringing the total donated over the last nine years to more than $30,000. The impact of this annual event has been substantial, thanks to the unwavering support of the Kingsville community.
The choice to providing financial funding to the KCPC was based on the large number of events they support in our community including:
- bursaries for local schools
- Cottam and Kingsville soccer programs
- music programs at local schools
- public skating events
- a backpack program
- breakfast and nutrition programs
- community dinners
- Toys For Tots
- the Kingsville Goodfellows
- and the Migration Festival pumpkin event
These are just a few of the events that they support. These events make meaningful improvements in our community while also fostering a sense of trust and cooperation between residents and our police force.
