This past Saturday, the Jr Girls 10U Fastpitch Greys defeated fellow Kingsville team, the Melo LLP Whites, 11-9.

In an exciting close game, both teams hit and defended extremely well in a very evenly contested matchup.

Tori and Isabella led the way offensively with 3 hits each, while Lily Warkentin, Lily Wood, Kylie, Jasmine, Mia and Riley all had a pair of hits.  Bria and Kenzie both had singles and Hailey had 3 competitive at-bats.

Highlights of Saturday’s game were:

• Riley’s bomb to RF in the 2nd inning which scored 3 runs.
• Jasmine’s incredible diving catch that ended the inning and stopped a surging Melo White team from scoring more runs.
• A relay play in the fifth-inning that resulted in an out at third-base.
• Hailey, playing left-field, fielded the ball and threw to shortstop Mia, who fired a bullet to third-baseman Jasmine to get a runner out.

The girls earned a much-deserved break to celebrate the Canada Day Holiday week.

The Grey’s get back to work with a practice on July 8th and then take on the Kingsville Blues on Monday, July 10th for an exciting showdown under the lights.
