Last night the Kingsville Powerhouse Greys took on a very strong Pier-C Produce Leamington team. While the outcome didn’t go the Greys’ way, they still managed to put up some runs while providing a few defensive highlights.

Mia made a great backhand play at third-base to get the girls out of an inning. Isabella didn’t flinch when taking a very hard ground ball, which would have resulted in extra bases.

Jasmine made a great play at first base, first catching a fly ball, then doubling-off the base runner who had sprinted towards second-base. And Hailey and Riley combined for several plays around 2nd base either in a relay scenario or covering the base for balls that reached the outfield.

These five girls all received Gold Glove awards for the evening.

The team was led offensively by Isabella and Lily Wood’s four-hit performance.

Lily Warkentin, Kylie and Mia all had 3 hits, while Riley, Hailey and Jasmine recorded 2 hits, including a triple by Jasmine!

Isla and Bria both had singles and were strong at the plate all evening.

After the game, coach Jon treated the girls to post-game ice cream at McDonald’s. They were lovin’ it!

Next up, the Girls taking on Essex 1 on Monday, July 24th before competing at the season-ending tournament in Leamington the following weekend.
