The Junior Girls Powerhouse Greys welcomed a very tough Essex team for their home opener this past Monday night.

It was a defensive battle as both teams made some great plays in the field to keep the score close with Kingsville ultimately losing 8-2.

Tori McLean led the way defensively by recording all three outs in one inning alone; two unassisted plays at third-base before recording the 3rd taking a throw from Mia Black, who made a great play on a ground ball up the middle.

Lily Wood led the way with 3 hits and Isabella, Mia, Riley, Hailey, Isla, Bria and Jasmine all recorded a pair of singles.

Kylie had a great hit up the middle and if not for a great play by Essex’s first baseman, would have notched her 2nd hit of the game in the 4th inning.

Kenzie made a great play at second-base for an inning-ending out and Lily Warkentin did a great job behind the plate as well as having an epic 8-pitch at bat.

The girls return to action next week when they welcome Leamington Team 3 to Kingsville for a Monday night matchup.
