Beatrice Woodward (January 3, 1933 – June 3, 2023)

Beatrice Woodward

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Beatrice, on June 3, 2023, at her home at the age of 90 years. Loving and devoted wife of the late Albert Woodward. Dear mother of Nora Walton (David), Grant Woodward and Allyson Woodward Thériault (Pierre).

Loving grandma of Jeffrey Walton (Eugene DiRocco), Julia Woodward (Cameron Deans), Amanda Woodward, Jared Thériault and Colin Thériault. Beatrice is survived by siblings Henrietta DeCuypere, Yolande Tremblay, Alain Blanchard and sister-in-law Evelyn Fountain along with a large extended family and many friends.

Predeceased by parents Noé and Marie Louise Blanchard, siblings Cécile Blanchard, Pauline Lefebvre, Denise LeBlanc and Gaston Blanchard and her granddaughter Gillian Walton.

Beatrice was born in Coderre, Saskatchewan into a French-speaking family and community. Her father and his brothers had moved from the Montérégie region of Quebec to establish farms and prosperous lives for themselves. She grew up on the open prairie and in the Catholic church where she absorbed and nurtured a strong faith that would carry her throughout her life and confidently into her final days.

She met the love of her life, Albert, while living and working in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. In 1965, a new job and a transfer brought the couple with kids in tow to Chrysler and Windsor. She was a quiet, classy lady with a wonderful sense of style and fashion. Her life was filled with friends, family trips back to Saskatchewan, curling at the Windsor Curling Club, playing bridge, and travel.

Her children remember her as the heart of the family home, a warm welcoming place of holiday celebrations, goodnight kisses and fresh baked pies. Her devotion to her family was complete for over 60 years, and her intense pride in each of her children and grandchildren was always evident and clearly expressed.

She will be greatly missed but the many memories of laughter and love will survive and be cherished by her family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Kendrick Funeral Home, Kingsville.
