It’s that time of year again. The Union Water Supply System has issued their yearly reminder about watering restrictions that need to be followed from May 1st to September 30th.
Odd-numbered homes can water on odd days of the month. Even-numbered homes can water on even days.
Watering can be done from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and later from 6 p.m. until midnight.
Limiting all watering to these times will cut down on peak demands on the water treatment facility.
If you have a newly seeded or sodded lawn, you can apply to your local municipality for a permit that will temporarily exempt you from the watering restrictions.
It’s important to follow these guidelines. If the water supply and distribution system becomes burdened to the point that service becomes insufficient, it would be necessary to declare a total ban on outside water use.
Residents who break the rules can face a fine of up to $5,000
