At the Leamington Council meeting held May 23, 2023, Council:

• • Held a Public Meeting under the Planning Act and:
    • • Approved Zoning By-law Amendment (ZBA) No. 274 to add a new definition to Section 3 Definitions and a new provision to Section 4 General Provisions of Zoning By-law 890-09.
  • Approved Official Plan Amendment (OPA) No. 20 and  ZBA Application No. 268 to rezone 826 Mersea Road 4 and allow a farm help dwelling for the exclusive use of the abutting farm properties at 824, 828 and 834 Mersea Road 4.
  • Adopted the Traffic Calming Policy prepared by RC Spencer Associates Inc. Consulting Engineers to encourage safer, more responsible driving to improve the quality of life for residents/non-motorized street users and reduce traffic volumes within neighbourhoods.
  • Approved a speed limit reduction on Mersea Road 1 from Essex County Road 33 to 790m west of Mersea Road 12 from 80km/h to 60km/h.
  • Received the By-law Enforcement Department Semi-Annual Report for information.
  • Approved an additional 2023 Municipal Grant in the amount of $5,000 to the Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County for the Leamington Carousel of Nations to be held on June 23 and 24, 2023, funded through the General and Administration Reserve.
  • Approved a 3% economic adjustment for full-time, non-union positions including members of Council, members of Compensable Committees, part-time, contract, seasonal and student positions and such adjustment be effective January 1, 2023.
  • Approved designation of host municipality by collecting the Dedicated Gas Tax Funds for Public Transportation Program funds on behalf of the Municipality of Leamington and the Town of Kingsville.
