Bill 23 – More Homes Built Faster Act Prompts Town-wide Zoning Amendment

At its February 27, 2023 meeting, Kingsville Town Council passed a Zoning amendment to comply with the More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022 (Bill 23). This Act is the Provincial response to helping more Ontarians find a home that meets their needs and budget.

As a result of Bill 23, the Planning Act now requires the municipality to allow up to three units associated with any Single Detached, Semi-Detached, or Townhouse dwelling. These units can be arranged in several different ways, including allowing three units in the main building, or allowing two units in the main building, and one unit in a detached accessory building (a backyard cottage for example).

Please see the attached Notice of Passing a Zoning By-Law Amendment for amendment details.

WIt doesn’t mention prices – is this affordable housing? Would average young people with children be interested or able to buy/rent them? How congested will this make traffic on Jasperson? I’m afraid with the arena, high school & all the existing and proposed development, that it will be a dangerous nightmare trying to drive on that street.
    Just my thoughts.

  2. I hope this helps to keep young families staying and moving to kingsville.
