“inner Nellie McClung” Really? Comparing yourself (and this issue) to arguably the most important social activist in our country’s history is akin to Donald Trump comparing himself to Abraham Lincoln.
That aside, Ms. Burgess seems to be under the impression that the primary issue is the actual name of the school. It is not, in my opinion the issue at all. It quite simply is the fact that Ms. Burgess chose to manipulate the Board’s own policies so that she could have the name that she chose.
If this was the name that she wanted, she could and should have gone back to the Committee and put it forward for discussion and acceptance. Why did she choose not to do this?
If this name had been one of the two finalists selected by the Committee and submitted to the Board for ratification then I would be in full support of the decision. But it was not and Ms. Burgess would have us believe that everything she chose to do was above board. Shame!!!
There is time to reconvene the Committee for further debate. Do so.
