Alumni and Friends Share Boblo Memories
For many who grew up in Windsor and Essex County, a trip to Boblo Island was a rite of passage. “Boblo Boats: A Detroit Ferry Tale” is sure to bring back fond, and funny, memories of this amusement park visited by Canadians and Americans alike.
The story focuses on the steamship Ste. Claire which transported generations to Boblo Island for more than eight decades. When the vessel comes under threat of ruin, a doctor, psychic and amusement park fanatic unite to save their beloved steamship from the scrapyard.
Interweaving local lore and mythology, “Boblo Boats” explores the whitewashed history of amusement parks and one crew’s crusade to bring back the memories.
Presented by the University of Windsor Alumni in partnership with the Windsor International Film Festival, “Boblo Boats: A Detroit Ferry Tale” will be screened on Friday, February 10 at the Capitol Theatre in Windsor.
Patrons interested in attending the screening can purchase tickets on the Windsor International Film Festival website.
