Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women Is Dec. 6

Thirty years ago 14 young women were murdered at Polytechnique Montréal on December 6, 1989. Parliament designated December 6 as The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

It is a day when we remember them and mourn their loss. It is a time to reaffirm our commitment to stand against the hatred and misogyny that led to this tragedy and others like it.

On December 6, we remember:

  • Geneviève Bergeron
  • Hélène Colgan
  • Nathalie Croteau
  • Barbara Daigneault
  • Anne-Marie Edward
  • Maud Haviernick
  • Maryse Laganière
  • Maryse Leclair
  • Anne-Marie Lemay
  • Sonia Pelletier
  • Michèle Richard
  • Annie St-Arneault
  • Annie Turcotte
  • Barbara Klucznik-Widajewicz

In the Town of Kingsville, our flags are at half mast as we observe the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
