Space To Spoon Exhibit Now at Canadian Transportation Museum

The Canadian Transportation Museum & Heritage Village (CTMHV) is hosting From Space to Spoon, a Techno Zone exhibit produced by the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum for the Canadian Space Agency. The exhibit is open to the public now and will be at the museum from October 1st until  November 20th, 2022.

Visitors of all ages can enjoy a stimulating experience with hands-on models, interactive elements, and stunning graphics as they discover what a satellite orbiting 798 km from Earth has to do with the food on our plate.

Space to Spoon demonstrates how Space technology benefits Canadian farmers and sustainable agriculture. It also highlights the Canadian Space Agency’s Earth observation satellite, RADARSAT-2, and its cutting-edge successor, RADARSAT Constellation.

Christina Tessier, President and CEO of Ingenium – Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation says that Ingenium is is committed to sharing stories of ingenuity in both historical and contemporary contexts.

“Developed in partnership with the Canadian Space Agency, this travelling exhibition showcases space technology and big data – which are unseen by most –in communities across Canada,” said Tessier.

“Visitors to the exhibition from coast to coast to coast will learn how the application of science, technology, engineering, and math (the STEM subjects) can enhance sustainable agriculture.”

Lisa Wacheski, CTMHV Curator & Manager of Education said she “is excited to welcome everyone to come and experience this exhibit. Visitors will be able to participate in this exhibit without having to travel outside of Essex County. We would like to acknowledge that hosting this Exhibit was made possible by the Department of Canadian Heritage Museums Assistance Program’s Exhibition Circulation Fund.”

From Space to Spoon  is open from October 1, 2022 to November 20, 2022 during regular museum hours, Thursday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The exhibit will also be featured at the museum’s brand-new event, the “Technology & Learning Expo: Exploring the Past, Looking to the Future” on November 5, 2022. Admission to the exhibit is by donation. Admission to the Canadian Transportation Museum & Heritage Village requires a separate fee.
