OPP Investigate Robbery in Leamington

Charges Laid

 (LEAMINGTON, ON) – On Monday, September 26, 2022, at approximately 4:18 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Leamington Detachment responded to a 9-1-1 emergency call for a robbery at a business near the intersection of Seacliff Drive West and Erie Street South.

A second robbery was reported on September 28, 2022, at approximately 3:23 a.m. at a business in the 1500 block of County Road 20 in the Town of Kingsville.

Investigators believe the two robberies are related.

As a result of the investigation led by the Essex County OPP Crime Unit with the assistance from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLGC), the following individuals have been arrested and charged.

 

Bernhard Thiessen DYCK, a 37-year-old of Leamington, has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada with:

·        Robbery with Weapon (2 counts)

·        Disguise with Intent (2 counts)

·        Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada (3 counts)

·        Resist Peace Officer

·        Failure to comply with undertaking (2 counts)

 

Georgian Maria MELO, a 35-year-old of Leamington, has been charged with:

·        Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

 

Shawn Andrew BORGES, a 37-year-old of Leamington, has been charged with

·        Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada (2 counts)

 

Krystal Jean MARENTETTE, a 40-year-old of Leamington, has been charged with:

·        Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada (2 counts)

 

The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Windsor at a future date.
