Earlier this month, Maryvale opened a satellite office in Leamington at the Nature Fresh Farms Recreation Center (NFFRC). The office, known as the Abraham Orthodontics Youth Room, will enable youth from Leamington, ages 13 to 18, to access much-needed mental health services in their home community. This new satellite office represents a collaborative partnership between the Municipality of Leamington, Abraham Orthodontics and Maryvale.
“On behalf of Maryvale, and specifically the youth and families we serve from the Leamington area, I would like to thank the partners for their commitment to youth needing mental health services by enabling us to bring our services to Leamington. Typically, they would have to travel to the Maryvale campus in Windsor to access these critical services,” said Jenny Letink, Executive Director at Maryvale.
“I am hoping that we can replicate this collaborative partnership in other municipalities across the County of Essex”.
“The opening of the Abraham Orthodontics Youth Room/Maryvale satellite office in Leamington is an important collaborative effort to connect our young residents in distress to the vital supports, services, and resources they need in their home community,” said Mayor Hilda MacDonald.
“The Municipality of Leamington is proud to support the opening of this children’s mental health treatment centre in Leamington at our Recreation Centre. I would like to thank our partners, Abraham Orthodontics, for their investment in youth services, and Maryvale for their efforts to reach our young people where they are, and at a time when they need it the most.”
“We are beyond thrilled to have the Community Youth Room open and utilized by Maryvale to deliver services desperately needed by our youth,” says Christen Abraham, community outreach coordinator and co-founder of Abraham Orthodontics. “We always seek ways to support children in our community beyond their smiles and are honoured to be a small part of this effort.”
Maryvale is an accredited children’s mental health treatment center that serves Windsor-Essex youth and their families.
A clinically trained therapist will provide counselling for youth four days per week at this new Satellite Office while a Family Navigation Worker will attend one day per week to help underserved youth and their families connect and navigate the local mental health and addictions system.
Maryvale’s satellite office is the result of a collaborative partnership. The Municipality of Leamington has provided a significantly reduced rental rate for the use of this office in the NFFRC and a donation from Abraham Orthodontics serves to further offset this rental cost. Maryvale will fund the balance and provide the clinical expertise.
