Kingsville Acknowledges Truth and Reconciliation Day with Carnegie Drop-in and Teddy Bear Picnic
September 30, 2022 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This is an important day to honour the families and survivors of Canada’s residential school system and the children who never returned home.
“The Town of Kingsville is dedicated to reconciliation efforts, and acknowledging the tragic and painful legacy of residential schools is a critical component of the reconciliation process,” said Kingsville’s Deputy Mayor, Gord Queen.
Join us, along with members of our Indigenous community and the Arts Society of Kingsville (ASK) at the Carnegie Arts & Visitor Centre on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 2:30 pm – 5:00 pm. Drop-in to see Indigenous art work, hear a ritual drumming and observe a ceremonial smudging. Please wear orange to show your support. All are welcome.
On Sunday, October 2, 2022, children ages 3 – 12, and families, can come to Lakeside Park Pavilion for a Teddy Bear Picnic. There will be reading, crafts, games and snacks. Children will learn about why teddy bears are important, no matter your age. This event is presented in conjunction with Caldwell First Nation and Windsor Public and Essex County Library. Participation is free, but registration is required. Use the Town’s online recreation portal, Kingsville Click and Play to register.
