Two Day Heat Warning Issued for Sunday and Monday

Environment Canada has issued a two day heat warning for Sunday and Monday.

Maximum temperatures will reach as hight as 31°C Sunday and Monday with overnight minimums near 21°C Monday night.

Humidex values are expected to be in the mid to high thirties.

The heat event is expected to come to an end early Tuesday. There is the potential for warm and humid conditions to persist on Tuesday, however precipitation and cloud cover will likely inhibit temperatures from exceeding the 30 degree Celsius mark.

Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the air quality health index approaching the high risk category.

Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions.

Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.

Seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath, or air-conditioned spot like a public building.

Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
