(TECUMSEH, ON) -On Saturday, June 18, 2022, at approximately 11:45 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Tecumseh Detachment, Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Tecumseh Fire Rescue and the Canadian Coast Guard responded to collision involving a vessel and a break wall on Lake St. Clair in the 14000 block of Riverside Drive in the Town of Tecumseh.
It was determined that an operator of a 32-foot, Michigan registered vessel struck a break wall. The vessel was operating with a total of eight occupants. Two of the occupants were transported to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
As a result, police have charged 51-year-old Lawrence Hayes BASCOMB of Detroit, Michigan with:
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)
· Operation causing bodily harm CC 320.14(2)
The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor at a later date.
The occupants of the vessel were then turned over to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)..
