ESSEX COUNTY – A COVID-19 outbreak in an inpatient unit at Erie Shores HealthCare was rescinded this morning by the Windsor and Essex County Health Unit.
The announcement comes 12 days after two patients tested positive for COVID-19. It’s believed they contracted the virus from a visitor to the unit. The lifting of the outbreak means visitors will once again be able to return to 2-Centre, beginning today. However, visitor restrictions remain in place in all hospital areas.
Currently, an inpatient is permitted two visitors, with one allowed at the bedside at a time. All visitors must also pass a rapid-antigen test each day they visit and wear a mask and eye protection in all hospital areas. These protections will remain in place to keep our patients and staff safe.
For the most up-to-date information, visitors should consult the hospital website at https://www.erieshoreshealthcare.ca/visitorhours before arriving at the hospital.
